Melissa (47) is Canadian. She was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia. She holds a bachelors degree from Simon Fraser University with a double major in Language and English Literature. Melissa speaks fluent Spanish. She has three grown children and five grandchildren and lives in Puerto Vallarta.
For more than fifteen years Melissa taught English and Spanish at several different universities and colleges in Canada & Mexico. Switching careers in 2003, she practiced real estate in Victoria, BC, then relocated to Puerto Vallarta to continue in real estate opening her own brokerage in 2011.
However, the universe had another plan for Melissa. In 2011, a local orphanage in which Melissa had been volunteering was closed. Melissa stepped in to take over the care of the thirteen girls and a new chapter in Melissa’s life began. Please see also ‘Our Story’ on the side menu.
Recently, Melissa and Juan completed the nine-month University Diploma Program “Working with Victims of Intra-familial Abuse and Violence.” They also completed a one-week Course “Administration of Organizations”, both sponsored by UNIVA and the state.
Treasurer, Director Operations
Juan (39) is Mexican. He has a degree in Business Administration and prior to Fundación Corazón de Niña worked in management capacities in restaurant, tourism and real estate industries.
At Fundación Corazón de Niña, Juan manages all matters related to Security, Operations, Transportation, Donations, Purchasing. He is living proof for all our children that there are Dads who truly love, support and protect their children.
Juan and Melissa are the founders of Fundación Corazón de Niña.
