Mary Mitchell, Rose Mary’s motherĀ  writes to tell her of George Scheuler’s death (Rose Mary’s brother in law). George was apparently well-loved by the family. Interesting to hear that Millie has a servant. Three years later, in 1934, Millie writes to Rose Mary that times are extremely difficult financially and that she is barely making ends meet. Mary dies two years after this letter in 1933.

My darling Rosie,

Just a few lines to let you see I am thinking and loving you as usual, but am very shakey, but only when I want to write or do anything with my hands. I do hope you are all keeping well.

Everyone here are very good and kind. I thank God Millie has her old servant of years ago back with her.

You will be greatly surprised to hear the sad news that dear George, Millie’s good husband has not long ago become ill and died a fortnight ago at the hospital in London. Others, no doubt, will tell you about it, but I don’t know Millie’s Dossie and Ken were there with him, so most likely others will tell you and more than I know.

With fond love to you all and may God bless you all, I am as always,

Your loving, grieving Mother
