How to get material from Origins
Tales
Each of the 4 parts of ‘Origins: Tales From The British Empire’ can be downloaded, once in the pdf viewer. To get to the viewer from the Origins home page, go to ‘House’ on the top menu, then from your house menu, choose ‘Tales.’ Now you are in the pdf viewer. Look for the download button on the top of the viewer.
Archive Posts
I have not been able to find any easy way to download posts. My only suggestion is this: Select the content of the post, then right click on the selected text and images and choose copy open a new file on your computer and paste the contents into that file.

Where to find the Tales
From the site’s home page menu, choose House. In the house of your choice, find its menu below the image and choose Tales. A drop-down menu appears with the 4 parts of ‘Origins: Tales From the British Empire. Click on one and it will automatically open as a pdf file in single page format. If you wish to view the file in two-page format, go to the three dot icon, upper right corner, and click on ‘Two page view.’ Note that you can download the pdf file. Find the icon above the viewer.
Stories may also be found in the Treehouse Cafe posts.
Where to find family archives
From the Origins home page menu, click on ‘House’ and then in the menu of your house of interest, click on Archives, then ‘By Family’. Find your family in the list. Note the number in brackets next to the family name. That is the number of posts on file for that family. You will see that there is still much work to be done to populate the archive!

About Origins

Why this website
It began as a legacy for my sons. I wanted them to know who and where they came from, what remarkable people were in their family tree. As I developed the site, I realized the importance of sharing my archive with other families, that they may know more about their origins. As well, my hope is that others, particularly younger folks, will get really interested in Origins, or at least in genealogy and continue to build and share the story of our roots.
Families included in Origins
As of June 1, 2021 the families we have material on are listed below. As material comes in, the list will grow.
Spriggs House (extended families related to Spriggs):
Alexander, Brocket, Cadbury, Chaloner, Dudley, Fisher, Fry, Hellum, Knight, Manners, Pease, Pengelly, Pepys, Richardson, Rose, Rowntree, Savory, Shackleton, Sloane, Spriggs, Vernon, Webb, Wigham
Bruce House:
Undeveloped
When Origins will be completed
Hopefully, Origins will never be finished. However, my target is to get all my Spriggs House archive material uploaded by the end of 2021 and the Bruce House Tales and Archive in place by sometime in 2022.
Plan B: Who's there to take over Origins
It’s a critical consideration. If something happens to me, the site and its content needs to continue. I have left instructions in my estate notes to keep Origins operating until a family member can be found to manage it. As well, two family members have administrator authority (complete authority) over the website, allowing them, for instance, to download a current copy of the site. The big challenge will be to find one or more people with an interest in Origins and website developer skills. Finally, Origins is backed up every day onto my host’s server.
