The Caldwells
All we really know about the Caldwell’s time in Penang is that it occurred, for the father, Daniel Caldwell, died and was buried there in 1828. The original settlement was named Georgetown, but is now a neighbourhood in Greater Penang. The Old Georgetown Cemetery was destroyed by bombs during WWII. However, cemetery records survived and we have confirmed Daniel Caldwell’s death as 9 March, 1828.
